Kendall Smith was one of two Lady Jags chosen first team All-Louisiana

For the first time in the history of soccer at Southern University the Lady Jaguars placed two players on the first team while three other players picked up Honorable Mention honors on the 2005 soccer All-Louisiana team. Merdlyn Matthews and Kendall Smith were chosen for the first team. Almarie Soto-Ortiz, Charmaine Jones and Jamika Pugh all picked up honorable mention honors.

I'm extremely proud of all the young ladies that made the team," said interim head coach John Knighten. "All the players are true freshmen so makes me even happier. Having players on your team of their caliber would make any coach excited."

This is the second honor for two of the players as Smith, a 5-7 freshman from West Chapel, Florida, was named to the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference first team while Pugh, a native of Vacaville, California, was named to the SWAC soccer All-tournament team.

The Fabulous five accounted for 16 of the 18 goals that were scored for SU during the season. Matthews lead the team in goals with seven; Soto-Ortiz and Smith accounted for three a piece while Jones put in two. The Vacaville, CA native scored her only goal off a free kick during the SWAC tournament.
